Description

Mosquito Net Hanging Kit — 1 Point

Everything you need to hang a round, Classic or Temple mosquito net from a single point in the ceiling — the right hook for your ceiling type, the plug to hold it, and four metres of heavy-duty nylon line that is almost invisible once it is up.

We put these kits together because the hardware is where most net installations go wrong. Adhesive hooks fail, and the plastic plugs sold for plaster pull straight out and leave an ugly hole. These fixings will not peel off, will not fail, and will not wreck your ceiling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which mosquito nets is this kit for?

Any net that hangs from a single point: our round and Classic nets in cotton, polyester and silk, and our Temple nets. If you have a box-shaped net you need the four-point kit instead.

What is in the kit?

One cup hook for a timber or concrete ceiling, one powder-coated spring toggle hook for a plaster ceiling, one wall plug for concrete, four metres of heavy-duty nylon line, and instructions. You get both hook types in the kit, so you do not have to know your ceiling construction before you order.

Which hook do I use for my ceiling?

Use the cup hook if you are screwing into timber, or into a plug set in concrete. Use the spring toggle hook for a plaster or plasterboard ceiling — the toggle opens out behind the plaster and spreads the load, which is what stops it pulling through.

Where should I put the hook?

Over the centre of the bed if insect protection is your priority, because that gives you the most even fall of netting all the way round. Put it at the head of the bed instead if you are hanging the net mainly as a decorative canopy and want it drawn back.

Why do you not recommend adhesive hooks?

Because they do not work. They lose grip over time, usually let go in the middle of the night, and a net coming down on you is exactly what you do not want at three in the morning. Plastic plugs in plaster are the same story — they pull out and leave a hole that is bigger than the one you were trying to avoid.

How much line comes with it?

Four metres, which is generous for a single hanging point and allows you to adjust the height of the net or to drop it from a high ceiling.

Can I use something other than the nylon line?

Yes. The line supplied is chosen to be as close to invisible as possible, but cord, rope or chain all work and some customers prefer them as a decorative feature, particularly with a heavier cotton or silk net.

Do your round nets come with hooks already?

No. Our nets are supplied without ceiling hardware, because the right fixing depends entirely on whether your ceiling is timber, plaster or concrete. That is what this kit is for.

Will it damage my ceiling?

It requires one small hole, which is unavoidable with any hanging net. The toggle hook is designed to spread the load in plaster rather than tear through it, so when it eventually comes down you are left with a single screw hole rather than a crater.

I have a box-shaped net — which kit do I need?

The four-point hanging kit. A box net is suspended from four corners rather than one central point, so it needs four hooks and considerably more line.
