Is this a bed canopy for adults, or a kids' princess canopy?

It's made for adults and full-size beds. Most bed canopies sold in Australia are small round domes for a child's bed; ours are adult-scale bed canopies in every Australian bed size from Single to Super King, with a closed top, four floor-length sides and a 220cm drop, so they cover a queen or king bed completely rather than hovering over the pillow. Will a mosquito net bed canopy fit my existing four-poster bed frame?

In most cases, yes. Measure the top of your poster frame, then choose the size that matches — if you're between sizes, size up, since excess fabric can be gathered neatly into the corners. The canopy can be tied or pinned to the frame in a couple of different ways, both covered in the videos on this page.

Can I hang a bed canopy over a queen or king bed without a four poster frame?

Yes. Most of our customers don't have a four-poster bed at all. A box canopy hangs from four to six small ceiling hooks placed just outside the corners of the bed, or from a frame suspended over an ordinary queen, king, double or single bed.

What's the difference between four poster bed curtains and a bed canopy?

Four poster bed curtains are usually separate fabric panels tied to each post, with the top of the bed left open. A bed canopy is one piece: a closed top with four sides that hang to the floor. Ours do both jobs. Tied back to the posts by day they look and behave like canopy bed curtains; let down at night they close around the bed, and when properly sized, hung and sealed they keep mosquitoes and other insects out. The fabric is a fine, breathable netting rather than curtain cloth, so air still moves through.

Do bed canopy curtains restrict airflow or make the bed feel closed in?

No — that's a common misconception. Our netting is fine but breathable, so air moves freely through the canopy rather than being trapped. The effect is an open, airy, romantic feel rather than a stuffy one, and with four separate openings on a box canopy, there are plenty of places to lift a panel for extra airflow if you want it.

How do I attach a mosquito net canopy to my four-poster bed — tying or pinning?

Both methods work well, and which one suits you depends on your frame. Tying uses the fabric ties sewn into the canopy to secure it around each post; pinning uses fabric pins for a neater, more fitted finish on frames where ties aren't practical. Can a bed canopy curtain double as a decorative feature during the day?

Yes — many of our canopies are designed with corner ties sewn in specifically so you can gather and tie the sides back during the day, turning the canopy into a decorative drape around the bed frame rather than a closed net. Let the sides down at night to seal it for insect protection, then tie them back again in the morning.

Are four-poster bed canopies suitable for both traditional and modern bedrooms?

Yes.
