Description
Travel Mosquito Net — Freestanding
A genuinely compact freestanding mosquito net for travel and camping. It self-erects in seconds, needs no hooks, cords or bed frame, and packs down small — into a water-resistant bag 43cm long, weighing about a kilo. A removable floor lets you set it straight onto a bed in a hostel, hotel or guesthouse, or peg it out on the ground and sleep outside.
Supplied from our base in the Northern Rivers of NSW, with over 30 years behind us as Australian mosquito net specialists. We ship across Australia and New Zealand.
Features
- Free-standing — self-erects in seconds, no hooks or cords needed.
- Removable floor — place it directly on a bed, or peg it out to sleep outside (eyelets included).
- Adjusts to fit Single or Double beds via a drawstring at each end.
- With the floor fitted, it stops fleas, bed bugs, spiders and other crawling insects reaching you.
- Packs to 43cm × 5cm in a water-resistant carry bag; about 1kg.
- No chemical treatment of any kind.
Fabric & colour
- White polyester mesh, 156 holes per square inch.
- Chemical-free — no permethrin and no other treatment, so there is nothing on the net you would rather not have near you or the children.
Size & packed size
- One size, adjustable for a Single or Double bed: 206cm(L) × 150cm(W) × 101cm(H).
- At 101cm high it is a low dome — comfortable to sit up in, not to stand or kneel upright in.
- Packed: 43cm × 5cm in a water-resistant carry bag; about 1kg.
Setup & care
- Free-standing — no hooks or strings required. We suggest you unpack and trial it at home before travelling.
- Hand wash in cold water without detergent. Dry in shade. No bleach, iron, dry cleaning or tumble drying.
Folding and Packing the Freestanding Travel Net
Packing this net away is the one part that catches people out. The frame folds asymmetrically — it is not the same twist-and-drop action as a pop-up laundry basket, and the net is held by the two loops at the top centre rather than by the frame itself. Watch the demonstration below and have a practice run at home before you travel.
Frequently asked questions
What beds does the travel freestanding net fit?
One size adjusts for a Single or a Double bed, using a drawstring at each end. It is not sized for a Queen or King bed — for those, see our Freestanding net, which adjusts from Double through to King.
How small does it pack, and will it fit in a suitcase?
It packs to 43cm × 5cm in a water-resistant carry bag and weighs about a kilo, so it lies flat in a suitcase or straps to a pack. It is a long thin disc rather than a compact block, so allow for the 43cm length.
Does it have a floor?
Yes — a removable floor. You can place it directly onto a bed in a hostel, hotel or guesthouse, or peg it out with the eyelets and sleep outside. With the floor fitted it also stops fleas, bed bugs, spiders and other crawling insects reaching you.
Does it need hooks, cords or a bed frame?
No. It is free-standing and self-erects in seconds, so it works in rooms where there is nothing to hang a net from and nowhere you are allowed to drill.
Can I use it outdoors when camping?
Yes. Fit the floor and peg it out through the eyelets. It is an insect net rather than a tent, so it gives no shelter from rain or wind — use it under a fly, a verandah or clear skies.
How fine is the mesh?
156 holes per square inch. That is a travel-weight mesh chosen to keep the packed size and weight down, and it is coarser than the 360 holes per square inch in our polyester bed nets.
Is the net chemically treated?
No. This net is untreated — no permethrin and no other chemical finish. If you would prefer a treated travel net, our WedgeNet travel nets are available in PermaNet-treated versions.
Is the travel freestanding net hard to pack away?
It takes a little practice. The frame folds asymmetrically, and the step most people miss is to hold the net by the two loops at the top centre rather than by the frame itself. A first attempt can be slow; once you have the knack it takes well under a minute. Watch the folding video on this page and have a practice run at home before you travel.
How do I wash and care for it?
Hand wash in cold water without detergent, and dry in shade. No bleach, iron, dry cleaning or tumble drying.
How is this different from your Freestanding net for Double, Queen and King beds?
This is the compact travel version: Single or Double only, a removable floor, and a small light pack. Our Freestanding net is the roomier home and larger-bed version — it adjusts from Double to King, has no floor so it sits over your existing bedding, uses a finer 360 holes per square inch mesh and is machine washable, but it packs to a bulky 69cm disc.
Do you ship across Australia and New Zealand?
Yes. We are an Australian business based at Lillian Rock in the Northern Rivers of NSW, and we ship this net throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Great!
Before I purchased this net I was getting bitten by what seemed like hundreds of mozzies each night- now I can sleep peacefully. It was easy to pop up and I can take it anywhere I go. Thanks!

No Mozzies On Me
Have used this product before when i last went to Papua New Guinea previously. I am going again and taking 3 more with me as they are a wonderful product and i was asked if i could bring more as i leave them there for my relatives to use.

so very convienient!
This is a great net and a works on a good principle. The pack up was quite the disaster ( trying to follow the instructions included in pack). I had to leave it behind the first time I used it - then later when I returned found that no one had stolen it because no one else could pack it up!!! Eventually I figured it out and now can travel with it.

Impressive design - better zips and instructions would be good
The concept is great and the materials are generally good except the zips are too lightweight, I think - a higher quality zip that travels more smoothly would make a big difference. I found the written instructions pretty hard to follow. But overall a great product.

Awesome until you have to pack it up
This product is great. However, make sure you follow the sites recommendation and practice re-packing it a few times before you use it; the accompanying instructions are useless so make sure you view the you-tube footage. I didn't, had to move in a hurry and ended up having to leave it behind. Lesson learned there.

Great Buy, Value for Money
I think this is a great buy for me and it is worth spending the money on it. My kids, who are prone to have allergic reactions when bitten by mosquito (even a single bite) can now sleep without distrubances and I in turn have peace of mind and a good night sleep. I would have given it a rating of 5 stars should the instructions for folding can be further improved as I find it hard to fold it even after watching the instructions on youtube numerous times.

Hi Everyone
Just received my freestanding mosquito net today and want to let you know how thrilled I am!!! Very impressed with your prompt service and delivery. I have opened and re-folded it several times now thanks to you-tube. Had to go directly via youtube as the link to your home page didn't seem to have an access to it There are two vids....I personally found the one with the lady demonstrating far easier to follow. I shall be travelling extensively in India over the next 6 months and feel very grateful to have your product. Thanks again and all the best !!!! Krishna Sundari Sri Govinda Dham, Uki
