Description
Wedge Travel Mosquito Net — Single (Insect Shield® Treated)
A wedge-shaped travel mosquito net — one of the most versatile nets a traveller can carry. The wedge shape and single-point suspension let you hang it almost anywhere: from a wall, a door or window frame, or the ceiling. It packs down tiny into its stuff bag, sets up in seconds with the included cord and hook, and the fine, high-ventilation mesh keeps you protected while you sleep.
This is the treated version, factory-treated with Insect Shield® Technology and approved for sale in Australia under APVMA Approval No. 86205 / 114998.
Features
- Wedge shape hangs from a wall, door frame, window frame or ceiling — one-point suspension.
- Packs down small into the included stuff bag; sets up in seconds.
- Fibreglass spreader bar holds the shape; includes hanging cord and hook.
- Fine, high-ventilation white mesh, 156 holes per square inch (it's white because dark colours attract mosquitoes).
- Double-reinforced stitching on all seams.
- Adjustable hanging height.
- Factory-treated with Insect Shield® Technology — odourless, and nothing for you to apply.
Size & weight
Fits mattresses/beds up to 115cm(W) × 210cm(L); net height 185cm; 35cm fibreglass spreader bar; about 320g; packs to 11cm × 29cm.
Insecticide treatment — Insect Shield®
- Factory-treated with Insect Shield® Technology. Active ingredient: permethrin 0.52% w/w (5.2g per kg of treated material).
- Repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, fleas, chiggers and midges on contact with the treated fabric.
- The permethrin is bonded into the fabric rather than coated onto the surface, so it does not leach out and there is nothing for you to spray or apply. It is odourless and invisible.
- The treatment remains effective for 25 washings.
- APVMA Approval No. 86205 / 114998. Manufactured for Insect Shield, LLC, Greensboro, North Carolina, USA.
- The treatment is an added layer of protection — the net also protects you physically when it is properly sized, hung and sealed. No insect protection product can guarantee complete protection from bites. For exposed skin, use it alongside a repellent registered for skin application.
Care
Hand wash as needed in cold water with minimal detergent, and store it in its carry bag in a dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not dry clean — dry cleaning removes the active ingredient. Do not re-treat this net with permethrin sprays or other permethrin-based products.
Designed for travel and shipped across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
Frequently asked questions
What makes it good for travel?
It packs down tiny into its stuff bag, weighs very little, and hangs from a single point — a wall, a door or window frame, or the ceiling — so it works in hotels, hostels, tents and spare rooms alike. It sets up in seconds with the included cord and hook.
Where can I hang it?
Almost anywhere. The wedge shape needs just one suspension point, so you can hang it from a wall hook, a door or window frame, or the ceiling. Carrying a little extra cord and a few wall hooks makes it even more versatile.
What is it made of?
A fine, high-ventilation white polyester mesh with 156 holes per square inch, with double-reinforced stitching on every seam. It's white because dark colours attract mosquitoes.
How do I set it up?
Join the fibreglass spreader bar, slide it into the top sleeve, then use the supplied cord and hook to create a single suspension point from a wall or ceiling. The height is adjustable.
Is it treated with insecticide?
Yes. It is factory-treated with Insect Shield® Technology, with permethrin 0.52% w/w as the active ingredient. The treatment repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, fleas, chiggers and midges on contact with the treated fabric, as an added layer of protection alongside the physical barrier of the net itself.
Is the treatment approved for sale in Australia?
Yes. It carries APVMA Approval No. 86205 / 114998 from the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. The treatment is applied at the factory by Insect Shield, LLC of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Does the treatment wash out?
Not readily. The permethrin is bonded into the fabric using Insect Shield® Technology rather than coated onto the surface, so it does not leach out. The treatment remains effective for 25 washings. Because that is a wash count rather than a time limit, a net washed once or twice a season will stay effective for many years.
Does it repel midges and sandflies?
Midges are named on the approved product label for this treatment, so the treated fabric repels them on contact. That is a property of the Insect Shield® treatment, not of the mesh — at 156 holes per square inch the netting alone is not a physical barrier to midges.
Can I wash or dry clean it?
Hand wash in cold water with minimal detergent. Do not dry clean, as dry cleaning removes the active ingredient. Do not re-treat the net with permethrin sprays or other permethrin-based products.
Is it safe to sleep under?
Permethrin bonded into fabric is odourless and does not leach out, and this treatment is approved for sale in Australia by the APVMA. Follow the label: do not use the net for purposes other than intended, and discontinue use if skin irritation occurs. For advice, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 in Australia or 0800 764 766 in New Zealand.
Treated or untreated — which should I choose?
This is the Insect Shield®-treated version, which adds a repellent layer to the fabric. If you would prefer no chemical treatment at all, see the untreated single WedgeNet, which is identical in every other respect.
Do you make it in a larger size?
Yes — for two people or a queen mattress, see the Insect Shield®-treated double WedgeNet.
