Travel mosquito nets for backpacking, hotels and camping
Our travel range is built for anywhere a bed net isn't already fixed to the room — backpacking, camping, hotel rooms and guesthouses without their own netting. When correctly sized, hung and sealed, our travel nets stop all known mosquitoes. We've been designing and supplying travel nets from Australia since 1995.
WedgeNet — the versatile travel shape
Our WedgeNet design is built specifically for travel: it can be hung from a wall, a door frame, a window frame or the ceiling, whichever the room actually gives you. It comes in Single and Double, and in both untreated and treated versions — see below for the difference.
Untreated or treated — an extra layer, not a requirement
Our WedgeNet untreated is a plain physical barrier — no chemicals, just correctly sized and sealed netting doing its job. Our treated WedgeNet options add an insecticide layer, treated to Australian standards, for an extra level of protection. It's an option, not a requirement — the untreated barrier alone stops all known mosquitoes when properly sized, hung and sealed.
Budget round and box nets — compact and completely effective
Our Budget round and box nets in King/Queen are also excellent for the travel market — compact to pack and completely effective as a physical barrier, at a lower price point than our deluxe range. A practical choice if you want reliable protection without the extra cost of our premium fabrics.
Our Freestanding pop-up, and repellents too
If you'd rather have a fully self-supporting net that needs no hanging point at all, our Freestanding pop-up range is worth a look — it's built for exactly this kind of travel. We also stock DEET-free insect repellent as a complementary layer of protection alongside any net.
Travel Mosquito Net FAQ
What is a WedgeNet, and how do I hang it while travelling?
WedgeNet is our travel-specific net shape, designed to hang from whatever a room actually has available — a wall hook, a door frame, a window frame, or the ceiling. That flexibility is the whole point: unlike a bed net designed for one fixed ceiling point, a WedgeNet adapts to hotel rooms, guesthouses and tents that weren't built with a mosquito net in mind.
What's the difference between treated and untreated travel mosquito nets?
Our untreated WedgeNet is a plain physical barrier that stops all known mosquitoes when properly sized, hung and sealed — no chemicals required. Our treated WedgeNet options add an insecticide layer, treated to Australian standards, for an extra level of protection on top of that barrier. Treatment is optional, not something you need for the net to do its job.
Do I need a treated net, or is untreated enough?
Untreated is enough for most travellers — it's a physical barrier that stops all known mosquitoes when properly sized, hung and sealed. Treated nets simply add an extra layer of protection on top of that, treated to Australian standards. Which one you choose comes down to personal preference rather than necessity.
Are the Budget round and box nets a good option for travel?
Yes — they're a genuinely good choice for the travel market. They're compact to pack, completely effective as a physical barrier the same way our deluxe nets are, and priced lower since they use a simpler finish than our premium fabrics. If you want reliable protection without paying for the extra styling of our deluxe range, Budget is worth considering.
What's the difference between a WedgeNet and your Freestanding pop-up net?
WedgeNet needs a hanging point — a wall, door frame, window frame or ceiling hook — and packs down to a compact, lightweight bundle. Our Freestanding pop-up needs no hanging point at all; it's self-supporting on its own frame. If your room has nothing to hang a net from, Freestanding is the more reliable choice; if you don't mind finding a hook or door frame, WedgeNet packs down smaller.
Which travel net size should I choose — Single or Double?
Single suits one traveller and packs down the smallest; Double gives you room for a couple or a bit of extra space to move around in. If you're travelling solo but want a bit more room than a Single gives you, Double is worth the small extra weight and pack size.
Can I use insect repellent alongside a travel mosquito net?
Yes — a net and a repellent do different jobs and work well together. The net is a physical barrier while you're under it; a repellent covers the times you're out and about. We stock DEET-free repellent options if that's a preference for you.
Are your travel mosquito nets suitable for camping as well as hotel stays?
Yes. WedgeNet's wall, door, window or ceiling hanging options work just as well strung between two points in a tent or under a tarp as they do in a hotel room, and our Freestanding pop-up is also a popular camping choice since it needs no fixing points at all — handy given most campsites don't have any.
